The Big Ten’s New OFFENSIVE Playcallers: What I’m Watching For This Fall

Eight new offenses, eight different puzzles — here's my one question for each

I’m flying to Chicago for Big Ten Media Days for NBC and I can’t stop thinking about how this league continues to improve at the QB position year after year. As an analyst, nothing is better than knowing that each game, each quarterback has a chance to lead a game winning drive against a defensive scheme that is so versatile.

Schematically, the Big Ten challenges coordinators on both sides of the ball in so many diverse ways that I often say it feels like NFL Lite. The game planning, the matchups, the in-game adjustments and more. Add in four new head coaches who may end up as College Football Hall of Famers, and it only ramps up.

I’ve enjoyed studying all eight new Offensive Coordinators this offseason as each one is walking into a completely different scenario, and each has a QB who will scare every DC in the country. So with that, here’s the one thing I’m seeking from each new offensive playcaller and what I’ll be on the lookout for in training camp next week.
