Time Flies - 3 Powerful Lessons from Mother's Day Weekend
On Washington State football, sacred everyday moments, and why flag football means more than wins
Time Flies…
We all know it’s true, yet somehow it still surprises us.
This past weekend, I stared straight at Father Time - and it smirked right back at me. Three moments. Three reminders. Three powerful lessons.
1. Cougar Nation & Conversations
I was in Seattle for A Night with Cougar Athletics, hosting a conversation with new Washington State football head coach Jimmy Rogers. You can hear more about it on this week’s Y-Option podcast, presented by our founding partner, 76.
I’ve hosted this fundraiser for a decade, and as the event kicked off, I found myself reflecting - on Coug legends, road trips to the Palouse, QBs charging out of the tunnel, and the coaches who’ve left their mark. I even thought back to taking a class from the late Mike Leach, geeking out on the Run ‘N Shoot with Nick Rolovich, and sharing late-night meals with Jake Dickert. Through all of it, what’s remained constant is the WSU community: passionate, resilient, real.
Lesson 1: As time goes on, change is inevitable. But as the Coug faithful reminded me, as has age, life is about the people 1st, experiences 2nd.
